Artist Statement-Jordan Stinson

 

My work is about playing with the process involved in creating my abstract paintings. Having studied both design and fine art, I am leaving overly controlled design-based works that I used to create into the freedoms that often come within fine art. My new works began during Covid 19 and its purpose to invite the viewer towards free-thinking interpretations of my creations. Formally, I like to experiment with 2D and 3D elements of art within my works and to combined both elements into what I call 2.5 dimensional space. I am aiming to create sculptural paintings. My subject matter is often connected with a common thread of pop culture commentary, but also has deviated into many other ideas as well. My mediums and techniques are constantly changing and evolving into my various mark-making tools. I aim to continually grow and strengthen as an artist to forever feed my soul and to hopefully impact the feelings and thoughts of the viewers along the way.
